Updated Information on Uniform Changes for 2009-1010
These changes were made after receiving input from the parents through the uniform survey sent out in May and discussions with parents and the PAC in April and May. We feel that the changes will help improve the appearance of our students while not putting an undue financial burden on our families. Thank you for supporting the school and helping our students look great.
Socks
All students in preschool through 8th grade will be wearing Holy Name School socks to school this year. Boys in 3k through 8th and girls in 3K through 5th will be wearing Holy Name School ankle socks which will have the school initials HNS on the binding of the sock. Middle school girls will be wearing long navy blue socks that come up to their knee.
Boy’s Polos
This year we are going to have the silk-screened and embroidered Holy Name logo on the boy’s polo shirts. We are currently searching for a company to embroider the logos that will provide us with the best price per shirt. We will still allow the silk screened logos until May, 2010. We will only allow embroidered shirts next year during the 10-11 school year.
Dress Shirts for Friday Mass
All boys in Kinder through 8th will need to wear a white collared dress shirt for Mass on Fridays. This dress shirt can be short or long sleeve and they will wear this the entire day. We will not be selling the dress shirt in the School Uniform Store, so please purchase this dress shirt from any local retailer.
Middle School Girls Shoes
Middle school girls will no longer be able to wear black athletic shoes with their new socks. They will be required to wear the black and white saddle back shoes that can be purchased at Payless Shoes for under $20. They are also available online at payless.com. They are found by typing into the search box on the home page. Type in ‘school uniform shoes,’ and the two variations that the girls will be wearing should come up. The descriptions are as follows: Traditional Saddle Oxford Predictions Online Exclusive for $17.99 and Smartfit Brick Bottom Oxford for $12.99. These were the prices listed as of 7/9/09. If you can find shoes that look EXACTLY like the ones on the Payless website then they will be allowed, but may be subject to review by Holy Name administration.
These shoes are available locally at Payless shoes stores if they are in stock. They are also available at School Shoes Unlimited but are considerably more expensive. You can click on the following link to get more information about store hours and how you can purchase online.

Holy Name Catholic School Uniform Store Update
Holy Name Catholic School will be selling school uniforms during the 2009-2010 school year in a one year pilot program to determine if this arrangement will continue in the future. Our plan is to open the school store for parents on Monday, July 13th at 1 pm in the afternoon. The store will be available for parents to visit during the hours of 1pm to
6 pm Monday thru Friday during the month of July. Store hours will change for the month of August. The school store will be open all day on August 13th for the Meet the Teachers day. The hours on August 13th will be from 8 am to 6 pm.
We are encouraging all parents to purchase your child’s uniform as soon as possible as we may need to fill orders once the stock on hand is sold. Our goal is to keep the store stocked with uniforms, but being our first year in the uniform business, please be patient with us.
The school uniform store will accept all credit cards and checks, as well as cash. The credit card account is currently being approved and may not be available on July 13th. We will have this form of payment available to our families as quick as we can.
Again, our goal is to try and serve all of our families with the best quality, lowest priced uniform items we can. We need for you to understand that parent volunteers will help make the success of selling the uniforms on-campus a more positive experience. When the school decided to handle uniforms for the 2009-2010 school year, it was done so that Holy Name parents would not have to spend more or travel further to get their uniforms. The funds from the sale of the uniforms will also help the school in a tough economic time where enrollment is not growing as planned.
Latest Update - 8/20/09 - 10 pm
PAYPAL HAS BEEN APPROVED!!!! If you want to use a credit or debit card, you will sit down at the computer in the uniform store, input your credit card information securely through PayPal, and then run the transaction. It is as simple as that. You will get a receipt of your card purchase printed out for your records. We hope that this option will make paying for your uniforms a little easier.
The uniform store is available during school hours for any parent that needs it. We suggest that parents e-mail Mr. Mills about what you need so that he can advise you if the item is in stock.
This is the most current update on uniform information. We will be updating this section every 2-3 days or as the information changes.
PLEASE NOTE - In choosing the highest quality girls' blouses, we went with a brand that does not have the tie loop. Blouses from last week's order are still available. There are probably 2 dozen of sizes 7/8 and 10/12 left.
We placed another order Monday morning for additional girl's blouses in smaller and larger sizes as requested by some of our parents. Our latest confirmation on the girls blouses we order, sizes 6, 7/8. 10/12, and 12-14 will be delivered Friday morning, then we will have the tie loops added Friday afternoon and the blouses will be available in the uniform store Saturday, August 15th. The store will be open from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, 15th for last minute purchases of these late deliveries.
Here is an update on all Girls uniform items and their current status:
Holy Name patches - back-ordered for another 2 weeks. We will allow blouses without patches throughout August. Girls will be required to have their patches when returning from the Labor Day holiday.
Holy Name Socks - (this information is for all boys in the school and girls PK3-5th) We have confirmed with UPS that our Holy Name socks will be delivered on Monday, August 24th. We will need a day to organize socks that were pre-paid. These pre-paid socks will start going home on Tuesday and we should have all of them sent home by Wednesday. On Wednesday, August 26th, we will start selling the socks out of the office for all families that did not pre-pay for them.
Girls' Middle School Socks - these socks are on back-order with the supplier and are scheduled to arrive the week before Labor Day. Therefore, the middle school girls will not be required to wear the long, navy blue socks until after Labor Day. The price for these socks will be $3 per pair.
Girls' Middle School Shoes - It has been explained to me that you have to order the shoes from the internet and they can be delivered to your local Payless store with free shipping. This process takes about 5-7 days. You can then go into your local Payless, try them on, and pay at that time. I believe the price is still $17.99. The shoes are currently in stock for about $55 at Shoes Unlimited. Please check the link above for their website. From what I see, these shoes are much higher quality than the Payless versions and should last much, much longer. We will give the girls a two week grace period for the shoes and they will be required when they return from the Labor Day holidays.
Girls Ties - Short and Long - we should be taking delivery of both short and long ties on Friday, August 21st. We should have about 15 pairs of each size, so please stop by the office to purchase any that you need.
Blouses and Skirts - we are working hard to stock sizes that everyone needs. I know that we are having a hard time with sizes that are much smaller or larger. We have placed a final order for the larger sized parents have requested and these uniform blouses should be in the middle of next week. Although, we are saddened to have to refer parents to other uniform providers, they have been doing this much longer and have more stock on hand. Any parents that have had trouble finding uniforms through our store can visit School Yard. They are a uniform store in Crossroads Mall. They have the girls' blouses we use here at Holy Name. Their prices are not too bad $18-$20 per blouse. They also have the skorts if you have not found your size here at Holy Name. Boys Uniform Information
We have about 60 polo shirts coming in and they will be available for sale this Saturday, August 15th 10 am to 2 pm. Here are the sizes available in this order:

We will most likely not take delivery of any embroidered polos until late September or early October, but we will keep you updated.

Preschool Uniform Information
We are placing one final order for start of school preschool shirts. Mr. Mills e-mailed all preschool parents that provided an e-mail at Meet the Teacher about this order. If you still need preschool shirts, please e-mail Mr. Mills what you need right away.
Finally, we are offering an incentive for all parents who purchase shoes through the school store. We are trying to sell all of the shoes that were in stock at Krystal Lacel's. When you purchase a pair of shoes through the school store, your child will get 3 free dress passes to use starting in September. The shoes are priced at $20.
We want to thank all parents who have been extremely patient with us as we figure out how to sell school uniforms. We will continue to try and improve on keeping stock on hand for all the items you need. We are currently utilizing Krystal Lacel's contacts for all of our uniform needs, but we are researching other vendors for improved price or quality and may make a change at a later date. Please feel free to share your suggestions with us as we decide if we are going to continue to offer the uniform store through the school for next year.
